| Extension type | Travel | Choose it when |
|---|---|---|
| Partial extension | ≈75 % of closed length | Stiffness matters more than access |
| Full extension | 100 % | The whole drawer must be reachable |
| Over / super extension | ≈150 % and more | The load must clear the cabinet or vehicle |
| Bidirectional | 100 % to both sides | Access from both sides is needed |
Load ratings are given per pair of slides, mounted on edge, at full extension. A load whose centre of gravity sits far forward, dynamic loads (impacts, vehicles) and frequent cycling all reduce the usable capacity. Add a safety factor and, for heavy loads, ask for a calculation.
Every slide bends at full extension. Longer travel, over-extension and side mounting increase deflection. If connectors must stay aligned or a door must close cleanly, choose a larger cross-section or a partial extension slide.
Slides are strongest when mounted on edge (vertical profile). Flat (horizontal) or bottom mounting reduces capacity and must be considered in the selection.
Per pair, mounted on edge, at full extension, unless stated otherwise.
Partial extension slides, because they have fewer members and a shorter extended lever.
A telescopic slide extends out of its own length to bring a load out of a structure; a linear rail guides a carriage along a fixed rail. FEDS makes both.
Free STEP files for registered users on every product page and in the CAD / STEP library — for many series one file per length.
Load, travel, installation space and environment — our engineers will recommend the right slide or design one for you.
