Why so few slides are made in Duplex

Duplex stainless steel is harder to machine and form than 316L, so most manufacturers do not offer it. FEDS manufactures Duplex slides in its own facility, combining the strength needed for heavy loads with the corrosion resistance required offshore.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Duplex better than 316L?

Duplex 1.4462 has more than twice the yield strength of 316L and better resistance to pitting and stress corrosion cracking, which makes it the better choice for heavy loads in aggressive environments.

Is 1.4462 the same as 2205?

Yes — 1.4462 is the European designation of the duplex grade commonly known as 2205.
